Bamako, La Belle

La poste nationale a Bamako

“I stayed here for seven months and I have blown all my money. I do that every year!”, he said. “In Bamako you can party every night for 12 months. Really party”

The wood trader from Austria travelled every year to the coastal West African countries of Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast,Togo and Guinea to buy high quality exotic wood. He shipped his merchandise home from Lome. On the way back he made a “stop-over” in the capital of Mali, Bamako, lasting a couple of months, varying between two and seven months and depending on how much he partied.

“The women here are the most beautiful on the whole African continent. I guess this has cost me my marriage”.

  1. Hi,

I enjoyed my stay in Mali when I went there for work. I liked the interaction I had with the Malians and I enjoyed my visit to the crafts market in Bamako. I also admire the Malians for their pragmatism.
